Calumet Farm's latest offering, the 15 Year Single Rack Kentucky Bourbon, is a unique release from this upstart Kentucky-based brand. This particular batch is both the highest proof and age for the brand, and it is bottled without chill filtration. The term "Single Rack" refers to the source of the batch being from a single rack in the rickhouse, meaning that all the barrels were aged in the same center part of the warehouse, which allows for longer aging compared to the top floors.
Calumet Farm's reputation as a famous horse farm has allowed them access to some of the best bourbon in the market, and this 15-year-old release is no exception. Distilled and aged entirely in 2006 in Bardstown, only 19 barrels were used in the production of this batch. Given that only one distillery was operating in the area at the time, it is safe to assume that this is good Barton juice. The mashbill consists of 74% corn, 18% rye, and 8% malted barley, resulting in a unique and complex flavor profile that is sure to impress even the most discerning bourbon drinkers.
