In 1989, John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley founded The Patron Spirits Company in Mexico. Initially, the brand was produced by Casa 7 Leguas, which is one of the oldest distilleries in Mexico. However, in 2002, the manufacturing of the brand was relocated to a new distillery in Jalisco, Mexico, where it is now exclusively produced. Patron, a renowned tequila brand, was purchased by Barcardi in 2018 and is now sold in more than 100 countries worldwide. To maintain the traditional methods of tequila production, Patron uses a two-ton volcanic rock hewn wheel, known as a tahona wheel, to crush their agave. Although this process reduces the overall production speed, it provides a distinct quality that many collectors and connoisseurs highly value. Patron is the ultimate hand-crafted, premium Mexican tequila, and its exceptional quality is the reason why it has become a top-shelf fine spirit around the globe.
