Torii drew inspiration from the traditional Scottish whisky but adopted a distinctively Japanese approach by selecting a terrain and climate that differed significantly from Scotland to create a unique style of whiskey. This location, situated on the outskirts of Kyoto, is renowned for having some of the purest water in Japan. The region's diverse temperature variations have created ideal conditions for cask aging, which Suntory has perfected, known as "Suntory Maturation." The exquisite Suntory Hibiki 21-year-old Blended Whisky is a result of the perfect blend of cask aging and blending expertise. The blend comprises single malts from Hakushu and Yamazaki, as well as grain whisky from Chita, all of which were aged in a combination of specially selected casks, including American ex-bourbon, European ex-sherry, and the rare and sought-after Japanese Mizunara oak. In 2013, Hibiki 21 won the prestigious title of World's Best Blended Whisky at the World Whiskies Awards, making it an outstanding tribute to Japanese whisky craftsmanship.
