At the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, a blind tasting awarded the title of Best in Show to a rye whiskey aged in Armagnac casks. This particular whiskey, called Black Prince, is the fourth edition of the Boss Hog series and is the first rye whiskey to ever be finished in Armagnac casks straight from France. Its flavor profile features a robust and potent spiciness with hints of apricot, clove, and cinnamon. It also received the distinguished honor of being named Best in Show at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
