In Pinhook's Collaboration Series, they partner with luminaries working in other sensory-rich fields to source great barrels of whiskey and craft blends that bring out the finest characteristics. The curiosity-based approach on which Pinhook was founded is exemplified in this venture, and the Series' collaborators explore the possibilities of whiskey from varied perspectives, often hitting on something new and exciting. These limited releases continue to expand the possibilities of American whiskey while paying tribute to the distillers and palates they most admire.
Garrett Oliver, the brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery in New York City, became friends with Sean Josephs, Pinhook's co-founder and master blender, as a regular at Char No. 4, Sean's Brooklyn bourbon bar. A professional brewing veteran of more than 30 years, Garrett is also an enthusiast of bourbon, Cognac, and mezcal. In 2014, he won the prestigious James Beard Award for Outstanding Wine, Spirits, or Beer Professional, and most recently founded the Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing and Distilling, which awards scholarships for technical education in brewing and distilling to people of color in the United States.
