The first batch of 2023 from Booker’s Bourbon has been unveiled and is named Charlie’s Batch in honor of Charlie Hutchens, the skilled artisan behind the wooden boxes that encase each bottle of Booker’s. Charlie worked at the distillery during the tenure of Master Distiller Booker Noe and is a longtime friend of the Noe family. He crafted the first wooden box for Booker’s Bourbon and played an instrumental role in establishing the brand. Charlie left the distillery after some years to open his own cabinet shop with his brother, and they now supply custom furniture for several brands and projects in the Beam family, including the new Fred B. Noe Distillery, where Booker’s Bourbon is presently produced.
Like every batch of Booker’s Bourbon, Charlie’s Batch was chosen by Seventh Generation Master Distiller Fred Noe to ensure that it fulfills the high standards and qualities set by his father over 30 years ago. This batch is uncut and unfiltered, and has a strength of 126.6 proof after being aged for seven years, one month, and eight days. Its amber hue has developed through aging, and it has a balanced aroma with toasted nuts, oak, and vanilla notes that are not overpowered by the wood. It has a slightly warm taste with a pleasing finish and is best enjoyed neat.
