Don Julio 1942, a premium tequila, was introduced by Don Julio Tequila in 2002 and is entirely manufactured and sold in Jalisco, Mexico. This exceptional tequila was created to celebrate 60 years of premium anejo mastery since the brand's founder, Don Julio Gonzalez-Frausto Estrada, launched the company. In 2014, the brand became part of the Diageo family of brands and is now distributed globally, while still being wholly produced in Mexico. Don Julio 1942 Tequila is made from fully matured blue Weber agave plants grown in the highlands of Atotonilco, Mexico, in an area of the Julio family estate. The agave is hand-picked, and the pina is slow-cooked for three days before being incorporated into the tequila-making process. Don Julio 1942 is aged for 2.5 years in ex-bourbon casks, with no more than 600 liters of tequila in each cask, ensuring a luxurious finish.
